About Garfield Policy Advisory Committee for CHI

Our mission is to reduce substance abuse by sponsoring workplace and community prevention programs and providing outpatient treatment services.

The Garfield Policy Advisory Committee (GPAC) will identify and address substance abuse and mental health policy issues.  Through collaboration it will improve access and delivery of services for residents in Garfield County.  

The role and responsibilities of CHI's GPAC include:

    
  • To study issues involving mental health and substance abuse that affect communities in Garfield County
  • To collect information on incidence, prevalence, gaps in services, what is working/not working
  • To identify priorities for its action
  • To design an agreed-upon policy and recommendations to implement
  • To reach agreed-upon benfits and results
  • To empower stakeholders to implement recommendations
  • To monitor consequences of policy recommendations

 


Additional Information About Us


Policy, as defined for use by the GPAC, is "the process of making important organizational decisions, including the identification of different alternatives such as programs or spending priorities, and choosing them on the basis of the impact they have.  GPAC members are decision-making representatives from systems of care including education, mental health, substance abuse, law enforcement, courts, health care, and other government entities.

CHI is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, public service organization located in Glenwood Springs and Carbondale, CO.  CHI serves the Roaring Fork, Coloardo and Eagle River Valleys.  Its mission is reducing substance abuse by sponsoring workplace and community prevention programs and providing outpatient treatement services.
